Overview

Join us on a fabulous 7-day exploration of the Highlands of Scotland in search of classic Scottish species at the height of migration. This tour has been developed to compliment our Wild Scotland voyage from both an ornithological perspective and also experiencing more of Scotland.

Over the course of the week we will explore the Cairngorms National Park, home to Black and Red Grouse, Ptarmigan, Ring Ouzel, Hen Harrier, Eagles, Short-eared Owl, Scottish and Parrot Crossbills, Crested Tit, Slavonian Grebe and more. The route has also been carefully chosen to take in several coastal and low-lying areas that are home to a great selection of species such as Little and Sandwich Tern, Corn Bunting, Tree Sparrow, Yellowhammer, Common Crane, Great Egret, as well as seaduck such as Velvet Scoter and Long-tailed Duck. At this time of year we hope to encounter a number of migrating waders and there is also a high likelihood of seeing White-billed Diver (Yellow-billed Loon) along the coast.

As well as birds there is also a very high chance of encountering a number of mammal species including Red and Roe Deer, Mountain Hare, Bottlenose Dolphin and even Orca not to mention the fabulous scenery and you can even enjoy a dram or two at our comfortable local hotels.

The tour will conclude in time to join your fellow passengers at the hotel for the first evening before embarking Sea Spirit for the start of the Wild Scotland voyage.
